Decision framework for accelerated learning

Anyone can become wise if they take advantage of cycles of learning.  There is a compound interest effect that occurs if you harvest lessons learned from each situation you face, use these lessons to add to your personal tool kit and then search out opportunities to stretch these skills even further.

A Decision Network model of any complex situation (business, engineering or life) serves as a Thinking Breakdown Structure that highlights the value-creating thinking “nodes” in the situation.  Your decisions truly do create your future; all the other relevant knowledge associated with the situation is somehow connected to these decision nodes. (I’ll share the full information model with anyone brave enough to ask).

What happens when you combine these 2 concepts?  You get synergy that can dramatically accelerate your learning and also improve your retention.  A Decision Network gives you the context on which to “hang” your insights, plus an actionable framework for reusing these lessons in the next similar situation that you face (or seek).  Ideas that are connected to other ideas are much more likely to be recalled when needed.

If you had to build up a set of decision patterns from scratch to cover the situations that you face, it would take a very long time.  Without an accurate information model it would have important gaps - missing information or relationships.  That’s why we’ve provided a very rich decision model, proven through many learning cycles within the Decision Driven® Strategy and Decision Driven® Life web services.  They’re free for the asking - at least for a 30 day trial.
